Rain, maybe snow in the forecast for Central Texas

Posted: Updated:

Rain is on its way. Central Texas can expect a chance of rain before midnight and then a chance of snow after midnight.

A mid to upper level trough of low pressure extending from the Central Plains to the Gulf of California is causing a disturbance that will be rotating western and central Texas over the next 24 hours bringing a chance for precipitation to the area.

A winter advisory is currently in effect of Kerr, Lampasas , Gillespie, Burnet and Llano counties.

Precipitation may begin as a mix of rain and snow and maybe sleet. It should change over to snow around midnight. West of I-35 North of San Antonio there may be a mix of rain and sleet or snow but no accumulation is expected. By noon Friday warm air should turn the precipitation into rain.
