Prescott Valley Police have arrested a 20-year-old man who they say was involved in a hit-and-run drunk driving crash.
About 9:30 Tuesday morning, officers responded to a hit-and-run collision site where a white fence was destroyed and two trees in a front yard were damaged.
They learned that a vehicle that struck the fence possibly hit a rock and partially rolled on its side, about 3 a.m.
A traffic sergeant was able to locate a parked vehicle with the type of damage described. It was a 1994 Buick that had fake plates.
They contacted the resident, 20-year-old Matthew Allen Ellson. He had injuries to his arms and face. He admitted to drinking alcohol the night before and eventually made incriminating statements about his involvement in the crime, police say.
Ellson's driver's license was suspended and he is on probation for a prior DUI offense.
Ellson was booked into jail on one count of aggravated DUI, 3 counts of misdemeanor DUI, 1 count of reckless driving, 1 count of fictitious plate, 1 count of criminal damage, 1 count of leaving the scene of an accident, and 1 count of minor operating a vehicle with alcohol in system.
