Like any basketball coach Jennifer White, former head women's basketball coach at St. Edward's University, was known to work for a call. Now she's the one blowing the whistle.
Jennifer White is a rookie referee calling local high school and small college games just a season removed from 17 years on the sideline as a coach.
White was a guard on two of Leon Barmore's national championship teams at Louisiana Tech and later served as an assistant coach for Jody Conradt. White traded in her coach's shirt for a striped one to stay in the game.
She says long-time rivals still call her coach and admits not every call is the correct one.
Hard work earned White playing time at LA Tech and she's applying the same work ethic to reach division one.
It may not be the usual track to becoming an official, but it's definitely been a fast one.
