Police say a man is fighting for his life after being hit by a drunk driver in Brooklyn early Tuesday morning.
One driver's wild ride through a Bay Ridge neighborhood left behind injuries and damage.
A car crash rampage on a usually quiet residential block sent six people to the hospital and others running for their lives. Fed up residents are blaming a nightclub brawl for setting it off.
"It was really bad. You just hear people screaming, crying there was blood everywhere," said Deoneicia Davis. "There's people's boots and sneakers on the floor."
Residents say police were on East 93rd Street moments after the 34-year-old driver crashed into at least four parked cars. But the wild scene didn't end there. Police say the male driver struck four pedestrians, then backed up and hit two more cars.
"Everyone starts screaming as he (the driver) hits the people. He puts the car in reverse, comes back to hit them again when he slammed into another bunch of cars," said Tameka Council.
Residents told Fox 5 it started after a fight at the 93 Lounge. A clubgoer even left her party shoes behind in the melee. It ended when a wheel fell off the crazed driver's white car and it crashed into Deoneicia's red vehicle.
"I guess they started fighting like usual – they always fight after. "I guess they wanted to take it to another level and got into a car and decided to hit people," said Davis.
The scene was so out of control someone tried to throw a big TV set at the car to get it to stop. Police say the driver's female passenger tried to get control of the steering wheel – now they're both facing criminal charges.
"They had to break the window to try and get him out because he just wouldn't get out and when he got out – it was like he had no remorse, no emotion he just walked with the cops to police car," said Davis.
All four pedestrians, two men and two women all in their 20's, were taken to Lutheran Medical Center. A 29-year-old man is in critical condition and the other three have non life-threatening injuries, police said.
People living here tell us they've complained about the lounge before and now they're hoping this incident will inspire authorities to take immediate action.
