Rain And Snow Monday, Clear Skies For Christmas

Rain And Snow Monday, Clear Skies For Christmas

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

An inch or two of snow could accumulate in higher elevations of the Lehigh Valley and the Poconos, but for most of us, it won't be a white Christmas.

On Monday, a rain-snow mix is expected to move into the area from the south during the afternoon.

FOX 29 Weather Authority's Sue Serio says the best time to see the flakes will be in the afternoon and into the evening.

In Berks County, a winter weather advisory goes into effect at 7 p.m. Monday night through 4 a.m. Tuesday.

The National Weather Service says the area may see snow and freezing rain.

For much of us, the system will change over to rain overnight.

By Christmas Day, the system will clear out leaving for a dry start to the holiday.

Another storm system that is expected to be much stronger is set to make its say into our area by Wednesday morning. The new system will bring mainly rain and increasing wind.

The best chance for any now would be to our north and west.

Scattered showers and a few strong thunderstorms this evening. Any storms could produce locally heavy rain and gusty winds.  Temperatures rise into the 80s before the storms hit.

Wednesday is shaping up to be drier and nicer than yesterday’s wet and unsettled mess.  Clearing skies will give way to some sunshine and a comfortable day. Winds will be out of the North around 5-10 mph with highs near 80 with low humidity levels. Enjoy!
