NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

More than a thousand runners ran 26 miles Saturday in Nashville, Tennessee in honor of the victims of the Newtown, Connecticut school shooting.

Each participant ran 26 miles to honor the 26 students and educators who lost their lives at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

Unlike most races, the runners didn't get a big number or a timing clip. Instead, each runner wore an "angel" that listed the name of one of the Connecticut shooting victims.

Organizers say they raised $30,000.

An anonymous donor even offered to fly organizers to Newtown to personally deliver the proceeds from the weekend race to the victim's families.
