Monday night the Hays CISD board voted to ban the Confederate battle flag from district property and district sponsored events.
Board members voted 5-2 to amend the student code of conduct to ban the fag.
The move mainly affects Hays High School in Buda which uses as rebel as the mascot.
The ban also applies to any imagery deemed to be racially hostile, offensive, or intolerant.
In October the board voted to keep "Dixie" as the school fight song.
