AISD board members will vote on the controversial issues of same-sex schools and charter schools.
Sunday night parents of Allan elementary students camped outside the meeting room here at AISD Headquarters to sign up for one of the 30 spots for citizen communication. That sign up started at 7:45 a.m.
In August of this year, the east Austin school began its first year as an IDEA charter school despite strong opposition from the community.
Board members will vote on the future of the Allan campus and decide whether to delay the conversion of Eastside Memorial High School into an IDEA charter school.
Folks at Travis Heights Elementary are overwhelmingly in support of the district turning it into a charter school. If the school board approves of the conversion, Travis Heights will be the city's first campus-based, in-district charter.
Board members will also vote to replace Pearce and Garcia middle schools with all boys schools.
Voting gets underway at 7:15 p.m.
