CASA GRANDE, Ariz. (AP) - Dozens of workers are out of a job after a Casa Grande call center closed its doors.
The Casa Grande Dispatch reports that an estimated 150 workers at the Opinionology Market Research Call Center were laid off this week.
Opinionology and Survey Sampling International merged last year. Officials at SSI did not immediately return a phone message left Thursday that sought comment on the center's closing and the layoffs.
One employee, Kevin Gilmore, tells the newspaper that company supervisors called employees Sunday to tell them shifts for Monday and Tuesday had been canceled.
Employees were instructed to call the office Wednesday for new schedules. When they did, they found the phones had been disconnected.
Gilmore says workers received a severance check equal to about two weeks' pay.
