Warm hearted valley residents are helping to do their part keeping homeless veterans warm this winter.
More than 500 blankets, jackets and various warm winter gear were brought to the Justa Center in downtown Phoenix -- helping to keep homeless veterans warm.
More than half of all the homeless seniors are military veterans. The Justa Center held the blanket and coat drive benefit with the hopes of collecting a few dozen items, but that quickly turned into hundreds thanks to an outpouring of support.
"We're so appreciate because we live in a country that doesn't value other people and then when you become homeless, you become even more invisible and for them to step up and to speak out and to do this, is a great honor for us," says Scott Richey, Justa Center.
The Justa Center says they were just happy to be able to keep so many of our homeless warm during the cool winter nights.
