A lawyer for accused cop killer Brandon Daniel said his client is remorseful and cannot believe what he did.
On Monday Daniel mad another court appearance at a pretrial hearing. He has been charged with capital murder and accused of fatally shooting Officer Jaime Padron at a Wal-Mart in April.
His attorney said this case is not about whether his client committed the crime but rather about if he deserves to die for the crime.
"I think if you look at this case from the onset, I don't think there's any question that he deserves a life sentence and not to be put to death," said Daniel's attorney Brad Urrutia. "He's a young kid, got no record, and there's nothing indicating that he's a future danger to anybody and I don't think he's ever going to commit another crime while he's in prison."
The trial is scheduled to begin in the summer of fall of 2013.
