Depp talks to fans before 'Christmas Pudding' charity concert

PHOENIX -

Alice Cooper's annual Christmas Pudding charity concert brought a lot of big names to the valley on Saturday night.

You never know who you're going to find at this valley tradition. This year, actor Johnny Depp spent time with fans before the show at the Comerica Theatre.

Depp took a special interest in Kyle Bright, who uses sign language and is in a wheelchair.

"Yeah, he was happy to meet him...it's cold though, but happy to meet him," said John Bright, who both met Depp.

Depp is just one of the stars who hit the stage at the annual holiday spectacular.

What's even cooler? they all did it for free.

"It's always cool in rock and roll when you can give something back, all the money here, today nobody's getting paid," said Sebastian Bach, former member of Skid Row.

Cooper rounds up celebrity friends every year to appear in a dazzling holiday show
for charity.

"Well, I started this off with Alice about 12 years ago. We started way, way back at the Celebrity Theatre when it was just an idea of putting stuff together like the Ed Sullivan Show, the feel of putting on a play in your parents' basement," said John O'Hurley, master of ceremonies.

It's a grab-bag of entertainment. In the middle of the show, a portrait of Cooper was painted in five minutes. When it's auctioned off, the winner will get a visit backstage.

Students from Cooper's new organization, The Rock youth center, were also in the spotlight.

"There's as much excitement backstage putting the show on as there is seeing the talent onstage with the audience. Phoenix has embraced A-the charity and B-the show every year," said O'Hurley.
