The Rolling Stones, Roger Waters, Bon Jovi, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Eric Clapton, Eddie Vedder, and many others performed at the 12.12.12 Concert for Sandy Relief Wednesday night in New York City at Madison Square Garden.
"I pray that that characteristic remains along the Jersey shore because that's what makes it special," Springsteen said.
"This has got to be the largest collection of old English musicians ever assembled in Madison Square Garden," Mick Jagger of the Stones said. "If it rains in London, you've got to come and help us."
Other celebrities fielded pledged and spoke on camera for the benefit, including Billy Crystal, Jon Stewart, Kristen Stewart, Ben Stiller, Susan Sarandon, and others.
Producers of the show said Friday they had already raised $30 million that will be distributed to storm victims in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut through the Robin Hood Foundation.
The show was sold out.
Producers also said they had no estimate of how many tickets had been bought by ticket brokers. They urged fans not to buy scalped tickets because the money won't go to storm relief.
The concert is dubbed "12.12.12." It begins at 7:30 p.m.
