Feds charge Conn. baby sitter with bank fraud

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) — A 22-year-old Guilford woman has been arrested on charges that she stole thousands of dollars from a couple that employed her as a baby sitter.

Federal prosecutors say Ashley Rose stole more than 250 checks from the couple, forged signatures and deposited them in her own bank account. She then allegedly withdrew more than $80,000 in cash from the account.

Rose was arrested Monday on a criminal complaint charging her with bank fraud in connection with a forgery scheme. She appeared in U.S. District Court in Bridgeport on Monday and was released on bond.

The case is being investigated by the U.S. Secret Service.

It could not immediately be determined whether Rose has an attorney.
