For the ninth year in a row, a family-run nursery in Long Island is sending hundreds of Christmas trees, menorahs and holiday cards to American service men and women serving in the Middle East.

Dees' Nursery in Oceanside and international shipping company DHL will load a plane at JFK Airport on Monday for 'DHL Operation Holiday Cheer.'

"We've all teamed up and it's turned into this wonderful event," owner Joe DiDominica told Good Day NY ahead of the delivery.

Along with the trees come all the trimmings and holiday cards handwritten by local school children.

"The best part is the greeting cards from kids all over the area," said DiDominica who continued the tradition started by his father.

The NYPD, Nassau County Police and several local departments provide a police escort to the airport of the truck loaded with large carts and boxes destined for Afghanistan and Bahrain.

This year, more than two dozen families affected by superstorm Sandy will also receive Christmas trees from Dees' Nursery.
