Long Beach firefighters who were laid off this summer are back on the job due to a grant from the federal government.

The US government is giving Long Beach a $910,000 grant to rehire five firemen who were laid off because of budget cuts.

The grant comes after Long Beach and nearby communities was ravaged by Superstorm Sandy.

Firefighters in Long Beach were overwhelmed with call during the storm and the money will help replace equipment the fire department lost due to Sandy.
