It's officially Christmas-time in Austin, as hundreds gathered downtown Saturday night for the lighting of the Capitol tree.
The tree is a little different this year, and will feature a music and light show every half hour, with holiday songs of Austin musicians.
After the tree was lit, Austinites were invited to take part in the Downtown Stroll, where the Congress Avenue shops and restaurants were open late with special activities and refreshments. The annual event is something some families say they take part in every year.
"I love being out here. It's fun to meet new people, and it's fun to have everyone singing together, and seeing the tree lights. It's just a unity thing. It's really fun," said Theresa Foster, who enjoyed the event with her family.
The Foster family said the Downtown Stroll is still fun, even in the 80-degree weather we're having!
