H.E.B. shoppers help fund Trail of Lights

Posted: Updated:

The Trail of Lights is back in Austin, but H.E.B. stores are asking for your help to keep the celebration around.

This weekend, if you shop at H.E.B. stores, you'll be asked if you'd like to add an extra $1, $3, or $5 to your total bill. All of that money will go toward the Trail of Lights fund for this year's celebration and for years to come.

H.E.B. Public Affairs Specialist Leticia Mendoza said it's important to maintain such an important tradition.

"It's about family and it's about tradition, and I think that's what makes it so unique," she said. "I think everyone can go back to a memory of their first Trail of Lights experience, and being able to share it with their parents, their grandparents and now with their children. And with it being dark the last two years, being able to bring that back, it's like being a kid all over again."

This year, children who visit the Trail of Lights between December 16 and 23 will get a free book from H.E.B.
