The 16th-ranked University of Texas football team has won four straight games and now find themselves back in the mix. That is something that didn't seem likely last month when they lost back-to-back Big 12 conference games.
"After those two losses we took against West Virginia and Oklahoma we had to do some soul searching. And say hey we can still go 10-and-2. So right now we're on that path," said UT freshman running back Johnathan Gray.
UT junior defensive back Adrian Phillips added, "We talked about it as team that we need to buckle down and get back on our game. When you put in hard work this is what pays off."
Right now Texas is tied for third in the Big 12 behind Kansas State and Oklahoma, who both have one conference loss. If the Horns take care of TCU on Thanksgiving and Oklahoma loses another game, things could get really interesting in the final week of the regular season when Texas plays at Kansas State.
"I wouldn't have believed you if you'd a told me it would turn out this way. But that's just the way it works. We gave up part of controlling our destiny when we lost those two games. So all we can do is keep playing after that. We've gotta keep taking it one game at a time, and who knows what'll happen. It'll be exciting to watch," said UT senior offensive lineman Mason Walters.
UT Senior defensive end Alex Okafor added, "It blows my mind actually. Because I remember five weeks ago after the OU game people were talking down on us. We had lost two straight games. Gotten blown out. Now, if another team loses we could easily be back in the mix. So I mean it's great for us and definitely creates a buzz around this program."
