TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities investigating the shooting of a Tucson police officer outside a home during a burglary call don't have a description of the person who wounded the lawman, but are seeking a man who ran away after a break-in several hours earlier at the same residence.
Tucson police spokeswoman Maria Hawke says the officers at the scene of the second burglary didn't see the person who shot Sgt. Robert Carpenter in the head and didn't see which direction the shot was fired from.
They couldn't provide any information on the shooter because they were focused on aiding the wounded officer in the moments immediately after the shooting.
No arrests have been made in the burglaries or shooting.
Carpenter remains in critical yet stable condition after undergoing surgery.
