It is already busy at Austin Executive Airport in Pflugerville. Helicopters have been coming and going since early Friday morning all flying one route southeast to Circuit of The Americas.
"It's been very interesting seeing the demand for helicopters that are already getting busy out at the track," said Charlie Bravo Charter CEO Rene Banglesdorf.
She says with heavy traffic expected on the roads leading to the track all flying options have already sold out.
"The amount of traffic out here for helicopters it seems like everyone's chartering a helicopter out here, we got special routes for everybody to follow," said pilot Travis Hess.
With so much expected air traffic it's all about safety, it's why choppers are flying at special altitudes.
"The inbound traffic flies at 1300 feet while the outbound traffic flies at 1000 feet," said Hess.
The 15 minute flight to COTA doesn't come cheap. Over the three day weekend more than 1,000 people will be taking a helicopter charter to the COTA for about $500 round trip. For those not wanting to shell out the cash COTA will be shuttling visitors to the event. Dozens of buses are constantly moving from Trinity and 15th Street to the track. Wait lines Friday were about 30 minutes to get on the buses.
