Hoboken PATH station repairs continue

Ten millions gallons of water flooded the PATH station in Hoboken soon after superstorm Sandy made its way into the tristate region.

The station has been closed for more than two weeks.

Stephen Kingsberry, PATH deputy director, told Good Day NY on Friday that there is no timeline for a return to service.

"Did I say 10 million gallons of water? Salt water that doesn't agree with the equipment, testing, the federal requirements we have to go through. We really need to do that before we come up with a time frame."

N.Y. Gov. Andrew Cuomo has repeatedly said following the storm that the mass transit systems across the region must be improved to handle another storm like Sandy.

"There in lies the challenge. Some of these stations are hundreds of years old. Our charge from the governor is to prepare for another Sandy if it should happen again," said Kingsberry.
