McCain unleashed: senior senator feistier than ever

Posted: Updated:

Some of the things Arizona Senator John McCain has said lately are raising a lot of eyebrows.

Senator John McCain has been one of the most outspoken senators pushing for answers on the Libya attacks.

"There has got to be a select committee to get to the bottom of this and I won't quit until we get it. The families of these four people deserve that," he's said.

But now he's being criticized because while he was making those statements, complaining about the lack of info on the attack, he was actually missing a 2-hour classified briefing on the Libya attacks where he would have gotten some of the answers he wanted.

When asked by a reporter why he missed that meeting, things got testy.

McCain said it was a scheduling error and then lashed out with: "I have no comment about my schedule and I'm not going to comment on how I spend my time to the media."

The producer then asks him why? To which McCain responds, "Because I have the right as a senator to have no comment. And who the hell are you to tell me I can or not?"

That is just the latest example of what appears to be John McCain unleashed.

Lately -- he's had no problem letting people and reporters know exactly how he feels.

Wednesday he had this to say to a reporter who asked him about the Florida socialite linked to General David Petraeus scandal.

"I say with great respect -- that's one of the dumbest questions I've ever heard ok. There's four dead Americans, there's four dead Americans, not a socialite, I'm answering your question -- do you want me to answer your question or do you want to interrupt?"

Then a few weeks ago -- he didn't hold back at people heckling him at a rally in Prescott.

"Even in this wonderful square, jerks are allowed!" he told the audience. "We've gone from $10 to $16 trillion dollar debt and I want to tell you - shut up!... I'm getting too old to put up with jerks like you."

So what's up with McCain lately? FOX 10's John Hook and Kari Lake have some theories.
