A valley dad won't be up for father of the year after police say he punched his 1-year-old daughter.
Mesa police officers say they were called to a home near Country Club Drive and Brown Road about a family fight on Sunday at 12:05 p.m.
Silviano Lee Antone's girlfriend told investigators that he hit their daughter during an argument, knocking her down -- causing bruising to her chest and face.
According to the police report, the girlfriend stated that Antone forced her onto a bed and held her down in an attempt to forcefully remove a cell phone from her. During the altercation, she attempted to call 911.
After being read his Miranda rights, Antone admitted to holding down his girlfriend on the bed by her arms and "inadvertently pushed one of his kids down before fighting with his girlfriend," according to the report.
Police say dried blood was seen on the knuckles of Antone's right hand, which he stated was from breaking a mirror in his house.
Antone, 23, is no stranger to law enforcement. Prior arrests include endangerment, domestic violence, disorderly conduct and criminal damage. In addition, he was convicted for leaving the scene of an accident and driving on a suspended license.
For Sunday's altercation, he faces aggravated assault and criminal damage charges.
