Round Rock, (TX) - Dressed professionally and holding her resumes in hand, Kay Nissen wakes up early in the morning in search of a job.
She's hoping her creative idea, positive attitude and determination will land her a job. Just this week, Nissen decided to work the corner to get herself a job.
"You're a dime a dozen if you have a resume out there it's going into a black hole," said Nissen.
She printed her resume and e-mail on 4 large poster boards. She added that all she wants for Christmas is a full time job with benefits.
"I said what signage would stand out the best," said Nissen.
It gets a lot of attention.
"The thing is getting the proper people. I get a lot of sympathetic people but they're not able to help me," said Nissen.
She came up with the idea while sitting in front of the computer in her apartment after books and the internet didn't work.
"I figured I had to get a job to support myself somehow in Austin, make an impact and let people communicate with me and that's why I chose to make the signs," said Nissen.
She wants a project manager job but is open to anything.
"Any type of programs that need to be done. We installed network management devices in large hotels," said Nissen.
She's been on unemployment since December.
"I'm just glad I don't have a car payment because I have friends who have lost so much," said Nissen.
She has also cut back on her costs.
"I saved to buy a house so this year I've been living on that and my unemployment," said Nissen.
She fears if she doesn't get a job soon she may have to down size even more.
"It's coming down to the wire. I mean what more can you cut back," said Nissen.
