WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (AP) - Consolidated Edison's chairman says problems dealing with Superstorm Sandy won't deter the company from seeking a rate increase.
Chairman and CEO Kevin Burke says apart from such a major storm, Con Ed's system is very reliable. He says the company will keep investing in the system and keep applying for increases.
Speaking at a storm recovery center in White Plains, Burke said he regrets that so many people still don't have power, more than a week after the storm. He says he's "very sorry that so many people are suffering."
Burke says the company must improve communications with customers and is doing what it can to improve the flow of information.
He says Con Ed can now tell people what day their power will be restored.
