John Dwight PainterPEORIA, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities say a man suspected of robbing a bank in Peoria last month has been arrested.
Peoria police say 43-year-old John Painter was taken into custody Tuesday less than an hour after he allegedly robbed a credit union in Sun City.
While Painter was being questioned, detectives say he admitted robbing a bank in Peoria on Oct. 16 plus another bank in Glendale.
Authorities say they linked the suspect to the Peoria robbery by the clothing he wore in the Sun City heist.
They say a vehicle license plate led them to an apartment complex, where Painter was arrested. They say the stolen money and the clothing he allegedly wore during the robberies were found inside the car.
It was unclear Thursday if Painter had a lawyer for his cases.
