UPDATE: In February of 2013, the aggravated assault charge was dismissed against Mr. Gilliam due to insufficient evidence. On June 4th of 2013, Mr. Gilliam pled no contest to a charge of drunk driving and the evading police in a vehicle charge was dropped. He was given a 1 year suspended sentence and fined $300.
Lakeway Police charged a man after they say he intentionally rammed his vehicle into a patrol car.
On Nov. 6, Lakeway Police attempted to pull over 49-yeear-old Brian Robert Gilliam after he stopped in the middle of the intersection at Lakeway Blvd and RR 620. Gilliam refused to stop and kept driving. He drove down the wrong way on a one way street where he stopped his vehicle. He then put his car in reverse, accelerated and struck the front of the officer's car.
According to the officer, when Gilliam exited the car he was unable to maintain his balance and his speech was slurred. The officer was unable to give Gilliam a sobriety test due to his level of intoxication.
Gilliam was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on a public servant, a second degree felony.
