Ted Cruz has won the race for Texas' open U.S. Senate seat, replacing Kay Bailey Hutchison.
Cruz beat former Democratic state representative Paul Sadler.
It has been a long journey for Cruz who won the Republican Party nomination for U.S. Senate in July after beating Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst in a run-off election.
Throughout his campaign, Cruz had pushed conservative values and maintained that he is anti-establishment, making him very popular with tea party voters. He's making history by being the first Hispanic from Texas elected to the U.S Senate.
Once he takes office, Cruz has said he will fight to repeal President Obama's Healthcare Act and work to limit the size of the federal government.
