
Officer Pat ShearerThe city of Peoria met Monday to consider an appeal by a police officer disciplined for posting a photo of a bullet-riddled Obama T-shirt on Facebook.
The image showed a group of teenage boys holding guns and a Barack Obama T-shirt with bullet holes.
The city said Officer Pat Shearer violated the police department's social media policy.
He was suspended and demoted from sergeant to officer. Shearer appealed the decision.
Monday, 3-member personnel board decided not to reinstate him as sergeant and upheld his demotion. However, the board reduced Shearer's suspension of pay from 80 hours to 40 hours.
