A sex offender who absconded from supervision has been captured in a child porn bust after living in the shadows for 10 years.
Earlier this summer, detectives began an investigation into someone in the Phoenix area who had been chatting online with a 13-year-old boy and requested sexually explicit photos of him with his younger brother.
The website's conversation logs show that the suspect had asked the boy to send these images to a Yahoo email address.
A judge issued a search warrant for the content of the Yahoo email account, and a review of that account revealed hundreds of images of child porn, according to court documents.
A forensic pediatrician viewed 10 images and determined all of the images depicted boys under the age of 14 – some as young as 5 – involved in sex acts with adults.
The IP address was registered to a home near 30th Ave and Glendale. Detectives served a warrant at the home and discovered one of its residents had been living under the false name of William Wallace.
William Daale Hall, 51, is a registered sex offender on lifetime probation for child molestation. He served a 15-year prison sentence in the Arizona Department of Corrections system. After he was released, he absconded from supervision in 2002.
Hall told detectives he has been lying to his live-in boyfriend about his true identity and dying his hair to continue living undetected.
He also admitted to having thousands of images and videos of child porn. Numerous external hard drives, CDs, laptops and desktop computers in his house were seized.
Detectives say Hall acknowledged being sexually attracted to males ages 5 to 80.
He was booked into the Fourth Ave Jail on 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor and outstanding warrants for probation violation and failing to register as a sex offender. More charges are expected.
