A mother was arrested after she allegedly drove drunk with her three children in the car on Wednesday.
Officers said 30-year-old Braina Barton is accused of driving drunk with her 12-year-old son, 7-year-old son and 4-year-old daughter in the car.
Barton's 12-year-old son called her boyfriend, Isaac Ochoa, and told him his mother was drunk, lost and swerving into oncoming traffic, police said. Ochoa told the boy to grab his siblings and get out when his mother stopped the car.
The children ran out of the car at a Chevron near Guadalupe and Kyrene Roads. Barton left the area and Ochoa came to get the kids from the Chevron, police said.
Barton's 12-year-old son told police she had two tall cans of beer before they left the house and drank another one while driving with him and his siblings.
Barton returned to her home in Tempe later that night and after she started arguing with Ochoa, he called police.
Officers said Barton was uncooperative and appeared drunk. She was taken to a jail and faces three counts of child abuse. More charges are pending.
