OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - Arizona Sen. John McCain is stopping in Omaha to discuss his endorsement of Republican U.S. Senate candidate Deb Fischer.
McCain's visit Friday comes a day after his former Senate GOP colleague Chuck Hagel made a stop in Omaha to endorse Fischer's Democratic rival, Bob Kerrey.
Kerrey, Hagel and McCain served together from 1997 through 2000 in the U.S. Senate and formed a bond as Vietnam War vets who were wounded during combat. McCain was also the 2008 Republican presidential candidate.
McCain's Omaha stop is part of his tour this week to various states to support Republican Senate candidates. Following his appearance with Fischer on Friday morning, McCain is scheduled to fly Friday night to Ohio for a campaign rally with Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney.
