Operation Goodwill asks for food and shoe donations

Posted: Updated:
PHOENIX -

Getting food to the hungry and shoes to those who are going barefoot is a big undertaking called "Operation Goodwill."

Starting Thursday, you can drop off items for this food drive and shoe collection drive.

By helping out, you get a free ticket to the Phoenix Children's Museum.

Just bring in three non-perishable food items or a pair of gently used shoes to one of 11 Ford dealerships in the valley.

"We're trying to collect over 10,000 pounds of food and a thousand pairs of shoes," says Justin Gilliam, Ford Motor Company manager.

"In these developing countries there's just no real resource for good safe footwear," says Chris Dudley of Walk Away Barefoot.

The shoes will be sent to people in developing countries through the group "Walk Away Barefoot."

Food items will go to the Saint Mary's Food Bank. You can drop off items until November 18.
