A man who allegedly stole a vehicle and burglarized a home was caught when authorities tracked the car's GPS signal – and that man has been linked to a number of other burglaries in the area.
Casa Grande Police began investigating a residential burglary and auto theft on October 23. The victim said a man broke into her home, burglarized it and then stole her vehicle.
The vehicle was equipped with OnStar, and police were able to locate it parked at a residence in a neighboring city.
Police served a search warrant on the resident's home, arresting 27-year-old Jake Hardin for auto theft, burglary, and identity theft.
While searching Hardin's home, detectives discovered property from numerous other burglary cases. The property collected may be tied to up to 25 residential burglaries at homes in Pinal County.
In one of the cases, Hardin allegedly stole a box containing the ashes of the victim's late husband. The box of ashes was recovered.
Detectives are working to return all the stolen items to their rightful owners.
