SUN CITY, Ariz. (AP) - A new publisher has been named for the Daily News-Sun, Surprise Today and Glendale-Peoria Today.
Terry Horne, general manager of Arizona's 1013 Communications, which owns the newspapers, says Marji Ranes will succeed Jason Joseph, who was named general manager for Houston Community Newspapers.
The Daily News-Sun reports (bitly.com/RSVosF) that Ranes previously served as vice president of sales and marketing for technology company Caliber Data. She also was general manager of The Times of Northwest Indiana, associate publisher of the North County Times in Southern California and a general manager over community newspapers for the Arizona Republic.
Ranes says she is excited to return to working in media, and says the valley is home to "a vibrant group of communities that are playing an increasingly important role in metro Phoenix's future."
