A home caught on fire near Glendale and 43rd Avenues Thursday morning.
Firefighters said mother and son were asleep in their home when a fire started in a back bedroom.
The son woke up in the middle of the night and saw the fire. He woke up his mother, she called 911 and they were able to get out quickly and safely.
Firefighters arrived within minutes and rescued the family dog.
The fire has been contained but firefighters are calling the home a total loss.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
