Suspect caught after daring escape from custody

Posted: Updated:

A man who broke out of police custody in Washington County was caught by APD officers early Thursday morning in Austin.

According to local authorities,  a Washington County Deputy attempted to serve a warrant to Jonathan Love, 22,  on Wednesday night, when Love escaped from the Deputy, high-jacked an 18-wheeler truck while still in handcuffs, and began a two-hour trek across Washington, Lee, Bastrop, and parts of Travis County.

APD Patrol Officers posted up at Austin's city limits after being alerted by Manor Police about Love's escape, and the stolen truck. APD also put its Air 1 helicopter in the air to watch for the truck, as well as alert K-9 officers.

Love led APD through Austin on a relatively low-speed chase for close to twenty miles, according to authorities, before finally pulling over outside of a local church near 2222 and Shoal Creek Blvd. He was taken into the Travis County jail where he is facing additional charges.
