Maricopa County Sheriff's deputies rounded up more than a dozen suspected illegal immigrants in the east valley on Tuesday.
Deputies pulled over a pickup along I-10 near Ray Road Tuesday morning for speeding and for making unsafe lane changes -- but the driver took off.
After a brief chase, the driver ditched the truck. He and a passenger ran from the scene.
Deputies quickly spotted them hiding in an orange tree and captured them.
Investigators then found 13 other people inside the truck, believed to be in the country illegally.
They admitted to paying a smuggler between $2,000 and $4,000 to be brought into the U.S.
Their final destinations were Phoenix, California, Texas, Idaho, and New Jersey.
