SAN LUIS, Ariz. (AP) - A Yuma woman is in custody for allegedly trying to smuggle $598,000 worth of cocaine into southern Arizona.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials said Monday that 30-year-old Patricia Contreras was referred for additional inspection of her car at the San Luis port.
After a narcotics detection canine alerted to the presence of drugs, officers reported finding 25 packages of cocaine weighing nearly 66 pounds.
The drugs and vehicle were seized and Contreras was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations.
