Austin Police have charged a man in an attempted carjacking.
On Oct. 27, around 1:13 a.m. police say Mario Ramirez attacked a man in the Wal-Mart parking lot located in the 12900 block of I-35.
Ramirez punched and kicked the victim in an attempt to take off with the victim's car, a 2009 blue Pontiac, by stealing his keys. The victim attempted to call 911 but Ramirez knocked the phone from his hand.
When Police arrived they found Ramirez hiding behind a trash can on Wal-Mart property. He was taken into custody and charged with robbery by assault, a second degree felony.
