PHOENIX -
As people on the East Coast prepare for Hurricane Sandy, here in the valley, Red Cross volunteers are also getting ready.
They're on standby to help out if needed.
"These are all volunteers who are well trained, background checked and with the ARC. They'll be going where ever they're needed. Right now we're looking at just about the entire east coast," said Trudy Rice of the Red Cross.
Rice says they could have people on a plane within 12 hours if necessary.
FOX 10's Anita Roman reports.
