Traffic flowing again after deadly Round Rock accident

Posted: Updated:

A deadly traffic accident in Round Rock caused the shutdown of the main southbound lanes of I-35 to be shut down Friday morning. All lanes of southbound traffic have since re-opened.

According to Round Rock authorities, the call reporting an accident involving and 18-wheeler and several other vehicles came in around 3:30 a.m. The accident occurred on the southbound proper between 1431 and 3406.

One lane of southbound traffic on I-35 was re-opened, but Round Rock authorities continue to warn drivers about the possibility of extended delays. They asked drivers traveling south on I-35 from Round Rock to exit on Westinghouse or find an alternate route of travel.

The other lane of southbound traffic was re-opened a short time ago.

It is unknown at this time how many other fatalities or injuries resulted from the accident, or how long the roadway will be shut down.
