Trevor BertramSurveillance video has been released showing a man that broke into a store to steal the company debit card. Police say he later went on a shopping spree, buying food and cigarettes.
Saturday, the suspect broke into a Mesa auto shop by kicking in a door. He then tried to get into the used car dealership next door, but what he failed to notice were the dealership's surveillance cameras.
The suspect, identified as Trevor Bertram, allegedly stole a set of keys and a company debit card out a desk.
Police say he spent about $1,000 on the debit card. A nearby store caught him on video buying cigarettes. He used it at least 8 times.
By Sunday night, Bertram was found hiding in some bushes in a nearby empty lot. A transient, he claimed he was just looking for a blanket to stay warm.
