PRESCOTT, Ariz. (AP) - A man who tried to drag a 17-year-old Cordes Lake girl into his car in 2011 will spend the next 22 years in prison.
A jury in Prescott convicted 39-year-old Mayer resident Curtis Hollingsworth last month on a kidnapping charge. An earlier trial ended in June when a judge declared a mistrial because prosecutors showed the victim Hollingsworth's photo before she identified him in court.
The Prescott Daily Courier reports that Hollingsworth is a registered sex offender with two prior felony convictions and could have received up to 35 years in prison at Tuesday's sentencing.
The victim and her mother presented Yavapai County Deputy County Attorney Steve Young with a small gift bag and a thank you card before Hollingsworth was sentenced.
