SAN LUIS, Ariz. (AP) - Federal authorities say a Mexican man is in custody for allegedly trying to smuggle more than 30 pounds of cocaine into southern Arizona.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers said Tuesday that 52-year-old Nestor Martinez-Noriega was referred for additional inspection of his pickup truck at the San Luis port.
After a narcotics detection dog alerted officers to areas in the truck, they found an estimated $275,000 worth of cocaine.
CBP officials say the drugs and vehicle were seized.
Authorities say Martinez is from San Luis, Rio Colorado, Sonora. He was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations.
