DOUGLAS, Ariz. -
A Mexican national who is a permanent resident of the United States was arrested Sunday during a marijuana smuggling attempt.
A drug-sniffing canine alerted to the vehicle of 31-year-old David J. Wise, who was traveling with his kids, at the Douglas port of entry.
Customs and Border Protection officers inspected his Volkswagen sedan and found more than 100 packages of marijuana -- worth $51,000.
The drugs, weighing 102 pounds, were seized, and Wise was turned over to ICE. A family member took custody of his children.
