SirusXM celebrates Austin-based channel

Posted: Updated:

SirusXM satellite radio celebrated their new Austin-based channel.

For the big debut the new channel had in studio guests that included Jerry Jeff Walker, Kinky Friedman, and Austin Mayor Lee Leffingwell.

Willie's Roadhouse on channel 56, Radio Margaritaville, and Outlaw Country will broadcast from the Austin studio.

"I think Texas and Austin in particular has really picked up steam when it comes to music popularity over the years. There's just a whole lot of great artists that have come down to Texas and Austin to play music. And any night of the week you can hear great bands up and down the streets of Austin. So I'm glad they came down and this is just another way to help those guys promote their music and stay out there working and pick it for us," said Willie Nelson.

The SirusXM studio is in the same complex as the Austin City Limits live concert venue giving them unique access to performers and performances like.
