TEMPE, Ariz. -

A man is accused of targeting his ex-wife's new boyfriend and beating the man to death with a baseball bat early Thursday morning.

Police said 29-year-old David Walker flew to Phoenix from Chicago, snuck into his ex-wife's home through a back door and hit her boyfriend multiple times in the head with a baseball bat.

Walker then struck his ex-wife in the head and physically assaulted her, according to police. She was injured and he forced her to drive him to Tempe along with their two children, ages 8 and 6.

Once in Tempe, the suspect fled the car on foot and threw the bat away. The victim drove to a business, where she called police. Police responded to both her location and to her home.

29-year-old Adam Moring, the new boyfriend, was taken to the hospital and died a few hours later.

Police found and arrested Walker at a Tempe motel after a struggle.

Walker faces charges of first degree murder, aggravated assault, kidnapping, burglary and tampering with evidence.
