Austin Police have charged a man after they say he beat his pet pig "Porky."
According to Police, officers were dispatched to a home located in the 2200 block of Patsy Parkway after neighbors reported witnessing a pig being beat with a stick.
When officers arrived at 37-year-old Jesus Villarreal's residence, they found the pig, later identified as Porky, hiding behind a shed, barely breathing and covered in blood.
Villarreal told police that Porky had been attacked by a dog. But Porky's wounds were no consistent with a dog attack. Officers found a stick that was covered in blood and appeared to have been used to beat the pig.
Porky was transported to the Emergency Animal Hospital of NW Austin by animal control. The hospital noted that Porky sustained wounds to the head shoulder, right and left axillary regions and a broken tooth.
Jesus Villarreal has been charged with cruelty to livestock animals, a state jail felony.
